Some beach destinations are built around nightlife and packed itineraries. Hua Hin takes a different approach, offering visitors space to slow down, spend time by the sea, and enjoy a more relaxed pace of travel. Here’s what continues to draw travellers to this coastal town.

A Royal Retreat Through the Years

Hua Hin’s transformation into a holiday destination began in the early 20th century when Thailand’s royal family established a seaside retreat here. This royal link helped to shape the town’s identity and is still an important part of its history.

Today, places like Anantara Hua Hin Resort adorn this historic coastline. The timeless charm of a modern-day beach resort in Hua Hin is a tribute to the region’s long-standing association with seaside holidays.

Long Walks Along Hua Hin Beach

Stretching for several kilometres, Hua Hin Beach provides plenty of room to escape the crowds. Morning walks, horse rides, and quiet moments by the shoreline remain part of the town’s appeal.

Markets With a Local Vibe

At popular gathering points like Cicada Market and Tamarind Market, visitors can browse handmade goods, sample local dishes and enjoy live entertainment. After sunset they offer a more laid-back side of Hua Hin.

Nature Beyond the Coast

Just a short drive from town is Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, an area of limestone hills, wetlands, caves and birdlife. If you’re willing to stray from the beach, the park offers a well-earned change of scenery.

Seafood at the wharf

Hua Hin was a fishing town and you can still find the signs of that today especially near the local fishing pier. Visitors can see fishing boats coming and going along the Gulf of Thailand and taste fresh catches in nearby restaurants.
