Where Turquoise Dreams Meet Untouched Paradise In The Indian Ocean

Bazaruto Island sits about 30KM off Mozambique’s coast, and it’s one of those places that feels unreal. The beaches are powder-white, the water swings in shades of blue and everywhere you look, there’s something extraordinary happening beneath the surface or along the shore.

The Underwater World Is Unbelievable!

The waters around Bazaruto are part of a protected national park, which means the marine life here is thriving. You’ll find the last viable population of dugongs in the Western Indian Ocean floating around peacefully. From July to September, humpback whales pass through on their migration, and you can spot dolphins, manta rays, whale sharks, and sea turtles pretty much year-round. Over 2000 types of fish call the coral reefs home, which makes any dive or snorkel session feel like swimming in an aquarium.

Privacy and Idyllic Stays

When you’re thinking about things to do in Mozambique, Bazaruto should be right at the top of your list. Resorts like Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort give you easy access to experiences while keeping you surrounded by natural beauty. The island manages to feel completely remote while still offering everything you’d want from a destination, and that combination is rare.

The Island Is Just As Diverse

Hundreds of flamingos and pelicans visit freshwater lakes, while huge sand dunes roll across the terrain beyond the beaches. More than 180 different species of birds have been sighted in the coastal forests. You can go on guided tours through places most tourists don’t explore- on horseback!

Perfect For Water Adventures

One of the greatest diving and snorkelling locations in East Africa is Two Mile Reef, which is super accessible from the island. Here, deep-sea fishing, picnics on sandbanks that appear when the tide goes out, and traditional dhow sailing are all popular.
