Doha isn’t easy to define. The streets change shape as you move from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, each area showcasing a different side to the city. If it’s your first time in Qatar’s coastal capital, here’s everything you need to know about Doha’s neighbourhoods.

West Bay

Surrounded by skyscrapers, West Bay is one of the best places for a first timer. The neighbourhood is clean, safe, and has everything you need within arm’s reach, from supermarkets to cafes and malls. Plus, the views are hard to beat.

The Pearl

With shorefront promenades, pastel buildings, and cafes at every corner, The Pearl is one of the more idyllic neighbourhoods in the city. Great for couples, families, or anyone looking for a slower pace, it’s a great place for aesthetic breakfasts, long walks, and the prettiest photos.

Souq Waqif

For a journey back in time, Souq Waqif is the place to be. As one of the most iconic neighbourhoods in the city, this area is built around a lively collection of traditional shops, unique activities, some of the best hotels in Doha, and delicious local food. With notable properties like Al Najada Doha Hotel by Tivoli located in this bustling neighbourhood, it’s the perfect spot for culture enthusiasts.

Katara

For a mix of everything and a location close to the beach, consider staying in Katara. The neighbourhood is sandwiched between The Pearl and West Bay, and is home to art galleries, an outdoor museum, parks, and more.
