At the heart of Queensland’s cultural life, QPAC is the State’s premier performing arts venue showcasing the very best in live performance. It is home to the State’s orchestra, ballet, opera and theatre companies as well as hosting over 1,000 performances each year in its four major theatres and ancillary venues. Alongside this, the Centre also presents a range of off-stage activities and events to encourage greater understanding and enjoyment of the live performing arts.The Queensland Performing Arts Centre hosts world class entertainment in the Concert Hall, Lyric Theatre, Cremorne Theatre and the Playhouse. It’s the second home to the state’s leading performing arts companies – Queensland Theatre Company, Queensland Ballet, Queensland Orchestra and Opera Queensland. Many of the world’s major musicals have been staged at QPAC including Cats, A Chorus Line, and The Phantom of the Opera, CHICAGO, We Will Rock You and Les Miserables. QPAC regularly welcomes visiting performing arts companies from around the country including the Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, Brandenburg Orchestra, Opera Australia, Bell Shakespeare, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Australian Chamber Orchestra and more.Located just across the river from the Brisbane Central Business District, the Cultural Centre is the arts and cultural hub of Brisbane. In a day at the Cultural Centre, you can see a show, admire the work of Australian artists, dine, shop and take in the great view of the city from the beautiful park surroundings.
