Movie and Theatre Experiences in Bangkok

A World in Itself

The movie industry has drastically changed since its once humble beginnings. Especially in Bangkok where today you find cinema tickets from as cheap as 40 baht in the area’s oldest theatre to the more extravagant 3,000 baht in the fabulous ‘Enigma’ Cinema. The question really is how much are you willing to pay and what sort of experience you expect for the money?

In the end of the day it really is the same movie but the different worlds you experience it in give you a whole different sensation. Today a better theatre does not simply mean a mere change in the size or design of the building. Today it is so much more. It all started with the fancy sound systems and today it has reached great heights that have evolved to give viewers a completely immersing experience. Now movie screens are bigger, brighter and most of them give the ultimate 3D experience offering you the feel of actually living the show altogether. Seats have been upgraded as well; from leather to velvet to what not.

In Thailand there is a world of cinemas that can cater to whatever movie watching experience that you fancy. It all starts with the normal experience which gives nothing more than a comfortable experience watching the movie. Then there is the IMAX ‘image maximum’ option. This type of theatre focuses on image size and gives you almost twice the film size of a conventional theatre. The overall viewing capacity is much better as well. For the latest in movie entertainment, there is the 4D plex theatre that combines the perks of 3D with added vibrating seats that synchronise with the action scenes of the film. That is not all; the environment effects go one step further giving you wind, spray of water, fog and what not, combined with such scenes in the movie of course.

When it comes to theatres in Bangkok one can go on and on. Even the comforts are limitless and there is a range of cinemas that cater to every whim and fancy. After an adventurous day in Bangkok, retreat to the Anantara Bangkok Sathorn. This Bangkok hotel is the finest of all the hotels Bangkok has.
