Shenzhen was the first location of the Happy Valley chain of theme parks. Currently it offers nine themed areas, the latest rides, interactive games and entertainments in an area covering 85 acres. The main entrance to the park is through Spanish Square that is reminiscent of a Spanish wharf. Cartoon City the favourite destination of many children is to the south of this. Riders are shot 60 meters into the air in 1.8 seconds and experience all kinds of sensations when freefalling down to earth. Past this is Gold Mine Town. The thrill here is escaping from the flooding town on the gold mine train. Once safely on dry soil visitors can go to the gold mine workshop to forge a keepsake. After the excitement Shangri La Woods offers a peaceful place of trees, waterfalls and caves with animals roaming about. Sunshine Beach is the place for entertainment and the Happy Valley Extreme Sports Camp is based here. Typhoon Bay although resembling a dilapidated fishing village provides the most extreme excitement. Here visitors can experience ‘shooting the chute’ that is said to have the highest fall in the world. Another exciting ride is Top Spin that swings riders up into the sky, makes a sudden turnover causing many people to have an awful feeling in the stomach. In Happy Times there are a series of exciting games to be experienced as well as a 4D movie theater. Playa Maya Water Park is one of the popular attractions here. Open from May to October only this large wave pool with a sandy beach is a good place to cool off in the summer heat. Adventure junkies can try the multi slide to race buddies down a 15 meter chute or the flume with a loop the loop and the circular bowl chute with a vertical drop. There are less intense water rides for children and a spa for the older folk. The dance show at the Happy Valley Theater is the highlight of evening entertainment. The park offers many other rides and activities that everyone in the family can experience. Street parties, parades, meetings with famous cartoon characters and the Happy Valley Carnival are among the entertainment.
