The Damaniyat Island has magnificent coral gardens and marine life in resplendent colors and therefore this island is known to be one of the best dive sites in Oman.Snorkeling in these clear, pristine waters, one can see a vast expanse of coral reef with schools of tropical and colorful fishes encircling the corals. Daymaniat’s underwater world promises a rare and exciting experience for both beginners and professional divers and snorkelers. Swimming in these waters is relatively safe for the divers. There is about nine Damaniyat Islands, and these islands provides a great sanctuary for bird and marine life.Along with the waters around them, they are protected by Royal Decree as a nature reserve and a national bio-treasure. The sharks that visit these waters are not harmful and therefore it is a rare sight for divers to see these kind of sharks.Coral reefs cover up to 70% of the dive sites seabed with a hundred and ten different species of soft and hard coral of which no less than 10% are unique to Oman’s waters. Marine life is abundant with 280 different species of fish, varying from sting -rays, occasional turtles, moray eels, Leopard sharks, and on rare occasions the whale shark. Diving in these Damanjiyat islands is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
