History
Auckland Opera House was founded as The NBR New Zealand Opera at the beginning of this millennium. It was formed when Auckland Opera and Wellington City Opera was merged into one organisation due to financial reasons. It was again merged with Christchurch’s Southern Opera in 2012, enabling the main organisation to conduct nation-wide work based on all three centres.
What They Do
Auckland Opera House collaborates with art organisations, arts-practitioners, artists along with their supporters in co-creating programmes that portray the diversified nature within its community, enabling and encouraging everyone to wholly embrace it. Apart from that, they also contribute and share their knowledge facilitating the development of opera in the country.
Journey So Far
Auckland Opera House has seen over 450 opera performances and during its remarkable journey, it has even entertained more than seven hundred thousand people in its audience.
