National parks are more than just stunning landscapes and can be considered as national treasures. Attracting tourists from all around the world, the Morne Seychellois National Park has an immense amount of value to the local economy and in preserving the local heritage of the country.
Situated on the largest island of Seychelles, Mahe, the Morne Seychellois National Park sometimes steals the attraction of the Mahe coastline. If you are planning to visit Seychelles in the near future, locating yourself closer to all these adventurous and fun destinations is a must. Beau Vallon hotels that are within easy reach of this site include Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino.
With a total area coverage of 3,045 hectares which is more than 20% of Mahe Island itself, the Morne Seychellois National Park includes an extensive walking trail network of more than 15 kms. This network encompasses more than 12 separate trails. From the mangrove vegetation near the coast, up to the highest peak of the park that is 905m, the park consists of a wide variety of forest formations.
If you take up on one of the trails you can explore the verdant tropical vegetation of Mahe that really sells the place. The indigenous flora and fauna of the park can be explored first-hand as you walk through the vegetation. As you walk up the hills you will witness the ruins of old cinnamon distilleries in the valley of “la mare aux cochons”.
