This vibrant venue, dedicated to the underground music scene, has shifted and evolved over time. Decommune exudes an indie vibe that perfectly complements its surroundings. The venue showcases a diverse lineup of live performances, and though its stage is compact, the exceptional sound system and immersive lighting create an atmosphere of top-notch quality. For a pulse on Thailand’s indie music culture, this spot is an unmissable destination.

The Stranger Bar

Headed by Chakgai Jermkwan, better known as Drag Race Thailand alum M Stranger Fox, this lively nightclub is a hub for fun and self-expression. The Stranger Bar features electrifying drag shows every night from 10 PM, now hosted in a larger venue at the end of Silom Soi 4, the heart of Bangkok’s LGBTQIA+ scene.

The United Peoples Brewery

United Peoples Brewery (UPB) – a collective of former home brewers based in Nonthaburi, just north of the Chatuchak district – has managed to establish a growing and evolving presence in the Thai beer scene. UPB offers a diverse selection of 12 beers on tap, most brewed in-house, ranging from IPAs and wheat beers to meads, stouts, sours, and more. Try this place out after a long day of exploration, before heading back to your stay at an accommodation like the Maitria Hotel Sukhumvit 18.

Studio Lam

Created by the iconic DJ, record store owner, and musician Maft Sai, this distinctive bar has established itself as Bangkok’s epicentre for music beyond the mainstream. Each night, it spotlights diverse global sounds, spanning funk, jazz, and disco to live performances of molam, the soulful roots music of Thai and Lao heritage. If you’re staying in a Sukhumvit hotel, this isn’t a bad place to visit for some culture!
