Vquarium

The virtual world comes to life!

City of Dreams is a mega entertainment hotel and casino complex on the Cotai Strip, a newly reclaimed area of Macau. Designed to ramp up the excitement at every level, the facility generates an electric atmosphere that is highlighted by its interior décor, many unique attractions and entertainment options, top among which is the Vquarium. This eye-popping attraction is a virtual aquarium, and in this case, full of realistic mermaids. The ‘natural’ effect of the Vquarium has been achieved by combining live action footage with state-of-the-art CG animation that blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy. This new type of media-based attraction is presently available only at a few select locations in the world.

Four especially-designed video walls measuring 19m x 6.7 m display film footage of mysterious underwater landscapes of caves and crags interspersed with artificial blurry fantasy images, swarms of fish and some jelly fish swimming along with the mermaids add to the ‘reality’ of the image. Real cascading water in front of the 360-degree, floor-to-ceiling screens, augmented with the latest lighting techniques and sound effects, add that important element of adventure and excitement so valuable to a successful show. The highlight is the six daily two-minute mermaid shows featuring beautiful mermaids that are everyone’s idea of what they should look like. Dressed only in fishtails and body paint, some with tentacle and fin attachments, these fantastic beings twirl around, with their hair streaming behind them, performing ‘aquatic dances’ set to music in differently lit sequences. The show ends when they fade into the distance or disappear in a mass of bubbles leaving the audience enthralled and gasping in disbelief. The shows have no fixed times and take place randomly. The views are realistic from any angle and the presentation succeeds in capturing the interest of all age groups.

Catering to the human qualities of curiosity and love of new things, the highest level of animation technology has been used to create an attraction that has succeeded in keeping the attention of guests at the City of Dreams riveted since its opening in 2009. The Galaxy Macau Resort Hotel on the Cotai strip is simply not like any other property. With a collection of 2,200 rooms and suites offered by three hotels, guests are likely to have the best possible choice of luxurious contemporary accommodation. As a key Macau hotel not only does it offer retail facilities with great choices but a range of food and beverage options including a food court and gourmet restaurants. A host of other extraordinary features and attractions keep high rollers rolling in at this popular selection of the superb range of Macau Hotels are famous for.
