Teluk Sengat Crocodile Farm in Johor lets you stand metres away from some of Southeast Asia’s oldest salt-water crocodiles. It is an easy half-day escape that mixes wildlife thrills with coastal scenery. Opened in 1979, the family-run site sits in a quiet fishing town near Kota Tinggi. Walkways pass over shaded ponds, giving clear views of reptiles that can reach five metres.

Crocs Up Close

More than 1,000 salt-water crocodiles live here, and a few seniors date back to the farm’s early days. If you have checked out from a stay often praised as the best resort in Malaysia, the coast road brings you here in under an hour. Arrive early to avoid crowds and watch the crocs sun themselves on the banks.

Coastal Retreats After the Roar

When the jaws are back behind fences, soft sand and sea breezes await. Many visitors continue north to properties like Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas, where a pool and late-afternoon paddleboarding soothe any lingering adrenaline. These resorts can arrange transport, so you only need to bring a hat and curiosity.

Feeding Time Facts

Keepers feed the adults with chicken and fish twice a day, usually around 11 am and 3 pm. The raised deck lets you watch the sudden splash and hear the deep thud of closing jaws without feeling unsafe. Younger crocs in nursery pens eat minced meat every other day.

Conservation and Community

The farm breeds and tags crocodiles with wildlife officers to protect Malaysia’s salt-water population. It also hires guides from nearby villages, ensuring ticket money returns to the community that has long cared for these waterways. Buying a simple souvenir helps fund new ponds and vet checks.
