Top Surf Spots around Uluwatu Bali

From beginners to experts, there’s something for everyone

Located on the southernmost end of tourist hotspot Bali, Uluwatu is possibly one of the world’s best locations for surfing enthusiasts. Despite its popularity as a surfing hotspot, Uluwatu showcases picture-perfect sceneries and an amazing, ancient Hindu shrine that is a sight to behold.

In Bali, surf resort type accommodation spaces are very popular among tourists. One of the most preferred ones, Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort places you within close proximity to some of the best surfing locations in the region, while offering luxurious accommodation and world class service.

The most popular surf spot goes by the same name of the region, Uluwatu. Consistent with breaks and swells of all sizes, it is no surprise that this spot is ideal for expert surfers. Beginners too flock to this location during periods when the tides are below four feet. Some of the key highlights here are barrels at The Peak and the speed of The Racetrack. The latter boasts a thrilling, multi-twisting barrel that is sure to put your skills to the test.

Padang-Padang is a close competitor to Uluwatu in terms of popularity. Humongous barrels, possibly Indonesia’s best, attract the best surfers from the world over. With plenty of room for wipe-outs, expert surfers love the challenge of conquering these mighty waves. Baby Padang, is located on the right side of the channel and gets its name due to its mellow tides, ideal for beginners.

Another extremely popular spot is called the ‘Impossibles’. Don’t be fooled by the name. This surf spot attracts beginners who aren’t yet ready to take on the mighty waves of Uluwatu and Padang Padang. The ‘Impossibles’ features two take off points at the top and bottom. Surfers are in for a treat when the swell gets bigger as it offers endless walls, ideal for continued surfing excitement.

Some of the other renowned surf spots around Uluwatu are Dreamland, Bingin, Nyang Nyang and Nusa Dua.
