Jakarta Art Centre Symbol of Indonesian Culture

Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, has a diverse cultures containing a mixture of Javanese, Malay, Chinese,Arab, Indian and European cultures. Taman Ismail Marzuki (Jakarta Art Centre) situated at Jalan Cikini Raya 73, Central Jakarta, is the cultural hub of the city, and is housed in a huge complex consisting Jakarta Art Institute, Jakarta Planetarium, six modern theatres for performing arts, exhibition hall, gallery, archive building, and cinema. It is named after famous Indonesian composer Ismail Marzuki and holds various cultural performances like; dance, drama, music, reading poetry, painting, sculpture and art exhibitions, and film festivals. Indonesian and foreign traditional as well as contemporary art forms are performed here. For tourists who are interested in traditional and contemporary arts, this is the place to visit.
