Enhance your Marine Knowledge

Phuket is one of the best choices for family travel. Among its large number of attractions, the Phuket Aquarium is a must-visit. The aquarium was revamped recently, ensuring a better quality experience for viewers. While walking through the aquarium, you and your family will get to see the sea creatures at close range. If you travel with children, the aquarium experience will be even more fascinating. They will have a good chance to have a look at exquisite marine creatures such as shrimp, sharks, crabs and eels. This experience will naturally enhance your child’s knowledge on marine creatures. If you want to make your travel with children easier, opt to stay at one of the 5-star resorts in Phuket. The aquarium is home to more than 30 tanks brimming with saltwater and freshwater. Exotic species of fish swim in schools inside the tanks giving you a unique experience. You can easily detect some of them with their bright colours.

There is more to the aquarium than its attractive and colourful fish, though. The tunnel through a large tank is a signature feature of the Phuket Aquarium. Once you step into the tunnel, you will see a wider range of sea creatures: groupers, snapper, sharks, wrasse and many others. If you manage to reach the aquarium by 11 am on a weekend day, you will be lucky to see these marine creatures having their lunch. If you book a stay at a resort such as Anantara Layan Phuket Resort, it may be more convenient to plan your visit as the resort might make the arrangements for you on request.

As you get out of the tunnel, you will be in for another surprise: a giant cod in a giant tank. The creatures are easy to identify as their names are labelled on each and every tank. Their names are given in English in addition to Thai, the native language of Phuket. You can enjoy reading a fascinating account of the marine life in displays stretched from floor to ceiling. The displays enlighten you about marine habitats and marine conservation. As you step out of the gallery, you will be greeted by a large number of turtles in pools. These turtles include green sea turtles and baby hawksbills in addition to wounded ones. The Phuket Aquarium provides a memorable lesson to anyone regardless of age.
