Art in Paradise

Interactive Infotainment at its Best

Bangkok with the Chao Phrayo River and its many klongs or canals has naturally been named the ‘Venice of the East’. So, it is no wonder that water plays a big part in the lives of the people of Bangkok and visitors too are drawn to the floating markets, restaurants etc.,

Transportation by water is big business in Bangkok and forms of water transportation vary from travel by ordinary boats, barges or ferries to super luxury cruises. Bangkok cruises are a big draw and there are many takers for them. For a truly luxurious, informative and entertaining cruise in an exotic setting the Anantara Cruises would be a choice par excellence.

In addition to cruises Bangkok has many attractions and “Art in Paradise’ is a major attraction in Bangkok today.

‘Art in Paradise ‘(also called the Trickeye Museum or 3D Museum) is an illusory and interactive museum located on the 04th floor of the Esplanade Shopping Mall, Ratchadapisek Road, Din Daeng, Din Daeng , Bangkok 10400. Its concept is to express life and fun in a novel way utilizing 3D and interactive media. The art is a superb mix of the traditional and new. Visitors can take photographs, blend themselves into paintings and photograph themselves,’ Art in Paradise’ has six permanent differently conceptualized interactive exhibition zones. They are the Aquarium and Safari Zone, Classic Zone, Fantasy Zone, Nature Zone, Modern Zone and Interactive Media Zone. The Interactive Media Zone plays on the reaction to the movement of the audience.

This 3D museum is housed in a 2 storey gallery of over 2,500 square meters and the 150 intricate and realistic 3D paintings by Korean artists are distributed over several rooms. The paintings are designed for visitors to fully interact with them. The Korean Artists have done a tremendous job of maximizing space and depicting the scenes using the floor and walls allowing visitors to become part of the frame easily. Visitors can be a part of scenes like ‘stairway to hell’, ‘ride a flying carpet’ and the ‘Coronation of the Emperor.’ There are example photos to show visitors how to interact with the paintings.

Visitors may be overwhelmed by the interactive game at first but will soon adjust and have loads of fun. Markers with arrows have been placed to show the best angles for the photography. If visitors take a thorough look around they will find photos by previous visitors tucked away in hard to find corners and these will show them the best poses. As tripods area allowed everyone can be a part of the picture.

Footwear has to be left at the entrance and collected on the way out.

‘Art in Paradise’ should be on the itineraries of all who visit Bangkok.
